Oleda Wrinkle-Smooth

Oleda Wrinkle-Smooth Review Summary

Oleda Wrinkle-Smooth Night Cream is advertised as the “ointment of youth.” Applied nightly, the cream contains vitamins and antioxidants and is supposed to moisturize the skin to reduce the signs of aging.

Oleda also manufactures a day cream for anti-aging, as well as other products for skin, hair, nails, and weight loss.

Ingredients At A Glance
As mentioned, the product contains antioxidants and vitamins, including Vitamins A and E, Alpha Lipoic Acid and DMAE, plus extracts of lemon to tone the skin, rosemary to help moisturize and hops.

The product also lists petroleum, parabens and chemical dyes in its ingredient formula. Parabens are preservatives contained in numerous cosmetics and deodorants that have been linked to breast cancer.

Ingredients In Focus
Alpha Lipoic Acid is an antioxidant contained in many skincare products; it is thought to have a synergistic effect when combined with certain other ingredients and may help renew Vitamin E.

Vitamin A is an important vitamin for maintaining healthy teeth and bones, supporting the immune system and supporting the digestive and urinary tracts. Though it is contained in many skin care products to help smooth the surface and even out skin tone, it has been shown to be more effective through consumption of foods rich in this vitamin.

Vitamin E is often used in skin care products because it has antioxidant properties that are believed to be beneficial in protecting the skin from free radical damage. However, studies have shown that the skin may benefit most from obtaining the vitamin through food sources rather than from topical applications.

DMAE is thought to help slow the signs of aging and is often taken in supplement form; no human studies have shown it to be effective, however. It is most commonly used as a memory enhancer.

Lifestyle Benefits
The Wrinkle-Smooth Night Cream from Oleda is intended for nighttime use, although the advertisement suggests that it could be applied under makeup, then “wiped off” to help keep the skin smooth, but that seems rather wasteful. We believe a better method would be to apply a product suitable for daytime use to help protect the skin from environmental contaminants as well.

While the product contains emollients that may help moisturize the skin, the formula does not appear to be the most effective for restoring damaged tissues. Since the cells repair while the body is rest, nighttime is a perfect time for deeper restoration to take place. Products that include ingredients to increase collagen production, such as Matrixyl 3000®, may be preferable.

Positives
• Contains antioxidants

Final Thoughts
The Oleda Wrinkle-Smooth Night Cream appears to be best suited for those with dry skin who would like a nighttime moisturizer with basic ingredients. In terms of fighting the signs of aging, it does not contain the most effective formula we have seen.

There are many products on the market intended to reduce wrinkles and improve the overall quality of aging skin; many use natural ingredients to lessen the risk of side effects, and the best quality products contain ingredients that have been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles.

As mentioned, Matrixyl 3000® is an effective ingredient, and has been clinically shown to reduce the depth, density and volume of wrinkles. It works to increase collagen production and helps firm and strengthen the skin. A formula such as this is available in products that are suitable for both day and nighttime use.
