Nu Skin

Nu Skin Review Summary

Nu Skin® is a skincare brand that has been on the market since 1984. This product line looks at a variety of skin issues, but for the purpose of this review, we shall focus on its anti-aging system. According to the company website, the Nu Skin® 180 Degree Anti-Aging Skin Therapy System will erase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and it will begin to show results in as early as 7 days. This system consists of a variety of products that are designed to work together to produce results.

We will take a closer look at this brand, and this particular system, to determine if these products are capable of living up to the company advertisements and reversing the signs of aging.

Products at a Glance
As mentioned, the Anti-Aging Skin Therapy System consists of a variety of products. These products include a face wash, a night complex cream, an SPF hydrator, a skin mist, a cell renewal fluid and AHA facial peel and neutralizer. We are most interested in the AHA cream, because this product is specifically advertised to promote a youthful cell renewal rate and diminish the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles.

According to the company website, step one of this cream contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), which is meant to break apart dead cell buildup, and step two contains Avena Sativa, which is said to soothe the skin and be rich in antioxidants.

Products in Focus
AHA is often used in anti-aging products, because it is said to work as a chemical peel to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. Once applied to the skin, this ingredient is said to react with the upper layer of the epidermis to weaken the properties that bind dead cells to the skin, which makes the outer skin peel away to reveal the new skin below. However, it’s important to note that AHA is defined as a “strong irritant”. In fact, for some, this ingredient may cause skin to turn red, flaky, and dry, as well as increase sensitivity to the sun. Furthermore, while this company claims that it may reduce the appearance of wrinkles, this acid is usually contained in such small concentrations in at-home products that it will not be able to provide significant benefits.

Another ingredient on the market, Argireline®, may be more effective in reducing the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines. This ingredient is said to work by relaxing facial muscles so that current wrinkles are smoothed away and future wrinkles are prevented. However, it does not appear that this patented ingredient is currently contained within any of the products in this Nu Skin® anti-aging line.

Of course, when consumers are advised to purchase an entire skincare system from a company, the price is usually quite high. In total, the Nu Skin® 180 Degree Anti-Aging Skin Therapy System costs approximately $235. This is not a price that all consumers can afford, especially since it must be repeatedly spent as products run out. It is possible to purchase all of these products separately, but since many are priced from $60 to $70, the savings are not significant considering the company suggests that multiple products be used at once to maximize results.

Final Thoughts
In the end, some people may be attracted to this Nu Skin® skincare system since it is advertised to produce visible results in as little as seven days. This is certainly an attractive promise, but considering that these formulas are missing key, patented anti-wrinkle ingredients, we do have to wonder how effective the system will really be. Many people may not want to pay the high price for this system or individual Nu Skin® products. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options on the market, including creams with powerful anti-wrinkle ingredients that are offered at much more affordable prices.
