Murad® Resurgence Review Summary

Murad developed and launched Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum, an anti-aging skin care product. Murad has an extensive product line which includes formulas for sun damage, aging, sun protection, sensitive skin, irritation, dull skin and cellulite. Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum is purported by the manufacturer to be able to “inhibit collagen breakdown and increase elasticity to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging” and be able to “naturally calm redness for the smooth even tone of healthy balanced skin”.

The anti-aging skin care market has exploded recently, flooding the market with many different products all making claims, similar to those made by Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum. There are many formulas which use ingredients that help them deliver results and some do not. We will thoroughly investigate this product and its formulary to see if it can deliver on the advertised claims.

Ingredients At A Glance
Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum uses the following ingredients in its formulary: Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3, Aveno Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Wild Yam Root Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Extract, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Amara (Bitter Almond) Kernel Oil and Barosma Betulina Leaf Oil; as well as other ingredients as listed on the website. We will take a quick look at a few of these ingredients.

Wild Yam Root Extract has been used extensively to help women deal with menstrual and menopause related issues. It is also purported to have some anti-inflammatory abilities, which may help with rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory related conditions. It is also used to treat ingestion and dysmenorrheal.

Avena Sativa is a highly nutritious grain, which is eaten as a food source. It is also believed to be a good elixir to help with recuperating from a trauma or illness. Avena Sativa is also thought to have some nervous system calming properties. This herb is also used in many male sexuality boosting formulas because of its purported libido boosting effects.

Sweet Almond Seed Extract is an oil derivied from almonds, which is often used as a substitute for olive oil. This oil is often used by massage therapists because of it skin softening effects.

Ingredients In Focus
Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum’s formula is an odd mixture of ingredients which may have no effect on revitalizing skin and others which do have some effective skin rejuvenating abilities. For instance, Wild Yam Root Extract is used in this formula, however, it has been traditionally been used to treat menopause and PMS in women. It has no proven ability to boost skin quality and youthfulness. Avena Sativa has been used extensively in male sexuality boosting formulas and has no proven ability to increase skin smoothness, elasticity or softness.

However, Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum also uses Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, which is also known as Argireline. This compound is a mix of amino acids which has shown excellent results in decreasing the effects of aging by relaxing wrinkles, lessening the amount of observable wrinkles on the face and delaying the on set of additional wrinkles. Many successful formulas will use Argireline in conjunction with Matrixyl 3000®, an ingredient which has been shown to be able to increase collagen production, which is a key component in relaxing and inhibiting wrinkles. However, Matrixyl 3000®, is not used in this product.

Website
The Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum website does not post any testimonials from satisfied customers. Usually companies will post these immediately if they have them to post, because they are good for sales. When they are not posted on products websites it is a red flag for us in terms of customer service and quality. We also like to see testimonials posted because we believe they are a valuable tool for consumers.

We would also have liked to have seen more research posted on the website regarding the product and regarding the ingredients used in Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum. This type of information can be very helpful to consumers because the ingredients used can be very confusing especially in formulas like Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum; which is very extensive in terms of the amount of components used in its formulary.

Positives
• Uses Argireline
• Website lists formulary

Final Thoughts
In our opinion, Resurgence® Age Diffusing Serum is only a moderate anti-aging skin care product. We believe that the most effective ingredient used in this formulary is Argireline. As mentioned earlier, this ingredient has shown great results in relaxing and reducing wrinkles. However, we believe this product would be more effective if it has used less filler ingredients, such as Wild Yam Root Extract and Avena Sativa; and had included a good quality modern agent like Matrixyl 3000®, which can boost collagen production.

Increasing collagen production is extremely important in maintaining skin smoothness, youthfulness and softness. Often, consumers will search out formulas which use both Matrixyl 3000® and Argireline to help them meet their anti-aging skin care goals.
