L’Oreal Review Summary |
While L’Oreal is primarily known for its line of cosmetics that appear at drugstores nationwide, it is also the parent company for 22 brands that specialize in hair care, makeup, fragrance, and skin care. Given this fact, it is not surprising to learn that the chemical makeup of L’Oreal’s more affordable products is often strikingly similar to that of the company’s exclusive department store brands, such as Lancome.
New formulas typically debut on drugstore shelves, and if they are successful, move to cosmetics counters a year or two later. While this might suggest that L’Oreal’s anti-aging products are the most advanced, unfortunately this is not the case.

 | Products at a Glance |
The L’Oreal Paris brand consists of skin care, hair care, color cosmetics and hair color products. All of these products are described on the company website, but some of its individual skin care treatments include: Active Daily Moisture, Age Perfect, Defense, FUTUR-e, HydraFresh, Hydra-Renewal, Ideal Balance, Line Eraser, Nutri-Pure, Nutrissme, Pure Zone, ReFinish, ReNoviste, RevitaLift, Transformance, Visible Results, Visibly Clean, and Wrinkle De-Crease.

 | Products In Focus |
L’Oreal features numerous skin care products, for example the product, Wrinkle De-Crease Collagen Filler Wrinkle Decreaser, contains some emollient ingredients, this product is intended to work as a serum rather than a moisturizer. The company claims that the product’s Collagen Bio-Spheres penetrate the surface of the epidermis and swell upon contact with water, helping to fill wrinkles from within.
This may sound like advanced technology, but regrettably it falls behind in performance when compared with newer collagen boosters like Matrixyl 3000. Skin collagen tends to decline after the age of 35, causing sagging and creasing. Products that restore these levels can not only prevent the formation of wrinkles, but actually soften existing lines.

 | Website |
The L’Oreal Paris website is quite extensive, and interestingly enough, it provides quite a few more details about its products than many of the other brands within the L’Oreal Group. In addition to a glossary of active ingredients, the site also includes a Q & A section that directs visitors to the products that are best suited for their skin type. This tool is particularly helpful when you consider the enormous array of products in L’Oreal’s line.
Unfortunately, shoppers in search of their ideal regimen may be disappointed to learn that L’Oreal does not offer direct online shopping. Although the brand is available at drugstores nationwide as well as through other web sites, not all retailers carry the complete array of products, so consumers might have to do quite a bit of searching to track down certain items.

 | Final Thoughts |
In the end, L’Oreal may be a multinational giant of a corporation, but the brand’s skin care products seem to focus more on marketing buzzwords than on actual science. Some treatments contain a few herbal ingredients that have been used in combination with other botanicals in certain forms of traditional medicine, but unfortunately this does not necessarily mean that they are the miracle wrinkle treatment women have been waiting for.
Rather than experimenting with complicated and expensive serum and moisture regimens, women looking to combat aging may want to look for a product that combines advanced peptide technology with moisture binding agents. This will help skin to appear its smoothness well into the future. Seek formulas with the most innovative and proven ingredients that represent a value.
