Joey New York’s line consists of skin care products, color cosmetics, makeup brushes, and a few specialty items. Some of them include: Correct-A-Line treatment, Collegen Boosting Cleanser, Pure Pores Cleansing Gel, Lift-Up Eye Gel, DeLIPcious, Quick Lunchtime Face Peel, and Collagen Boosting Lipstick and more.

With its Collagen Boosting Cleanser, Joey New York takes a slightly different approach to wrinkle treatment by putting ingredients that supposedly boost collagen into a cleanser. Most other products designed to fight the signs of aging typically take the form of creams, lotions, or serums that sink into the skin rather than wash away. Although this cleanser contains some natural oils that might make it hydrating for dry or sensitive skin, it is unlikely that any product that washes away can make a noticeable improvement on the appearance of wrinkles.

This is not to say that there aren’t a couple of bright spots to this cleanser; containing macadamia nut oil and royal jelly, it is a nice emollient for dry and sensitive skin. It may also provide antioxidant benefits, once again thanks to macadamia nut oil.

In spite of these benefits, this product does not contain an active collagen booster, and even if it did, a cream is still preferable, as it allows for greater absorption.

With its bright colors and illustrations, the Joey New York website has a hip, “downtown” feel. Unfortunately, this seems to be making up the fact that it is also light on solid information. While its skin care products promise to do everything from tightening pores to curing rosacea, it does not disclose its formulas, save one or two ingredients. This makes it difficult for consumers to make comparisons with other products that make similar claims. Fortunately for consumers, a well-formulated product is usually fairly easy to spot because its manufacturer will post the active ingredients prominently.

Joey New York products may look hip and colorful, but unfortunately there isn’t much beneath the packaging. While the web site has strong visual appeal, unlike other company sites, it does not provide detailed information on ingredients or the science behind the products themselves. This may leave consumers guessing about which products will actually work and which won’t.

Although the skin care line does include products that contain Hyaluronic Acid, they lack active modern anti-aging ingredients. Although Joey New York’s line features numerous products that claim to boost collagen, none of them contain peptide complexes, which have been shown to boost collagen synthesis. This indicates that Joey New York is not as up to speed on new scientific developments as it claims to be.
