Epicuren seems to market a wide variety of skincare products, including scrubs, acne products, moisturizers, facials, restorative treatments, UV protection products, prescription products, and vitamin supplements. The company also seems to sell cosmetics and “aromatherapy” products.

For this review, we will focus on one of this company’s products, the “Botanical Elixir.” This product is said to contain “a scientific blend of 33 highly beneficial botanical substances.” These substances are said to result in “a noticeable diminishing of lines and puffiness.” Despite the common touting of “botanical” components, we do not see much in this product that is known for having potent anti-aging effects. In fact, several of the ingredients, such as “Cucumber, Celery, Broccoli, Carrot, and Orange Peel,” sound, quite frankly, like a recipe for a salad. We were pleased to see “soluble Collagen” in this product’s ingredient list, since Collagen is known to be a valuable anti-aging component. However, we would have preferred to see the powerful wrinkle-filling ingredient Matrixyl 3000® also included.

This company’s Website is quite professional and “upscale” in appearance, and emphasizes the “luxury spa” ambience that consumers often find appealing. We would remind consumers, however, that the calm feelings associated with spas do not necessarily indicate a superior skincare product. We also would have preferred to have online purchasing available for these products, in order to accommodate the busy lives of consumers.

We were rather disturbed by the “Frequently Asked Questions” section, in which various unsettling adverse effects are described. For this reason, we would have valued a Consumer Testimonials section, in which we could see how consumers felt about these products. Particularly when the manufacturer admits to potential “bumps” as a result of its products, we would have been interested in reading some consumer responses.

Ultimately, we find this line of products to be highly questionable for several reasons. The potentially concerning skin reactions certainly are cause for alarm, as is the apparent lack of consumer endorsement of these products.

We believe that this line of products may also be quite difficult to obtain. In our view, online shopping has become an indispensible aspect of modern customer service. We encourage consumers to seek out manufacturers who offer every convenience and consumer amenity.
